EVENTS INFO

~~ scheduling and types of events~~

Our events are scheduled throughout the year, and during the summer we take our gatherings outdoors as much as possible.  In the winter, these parties are held indoors at various locations in and around the New York City area.  Because of the social nature of our parties, they are renowned for their ambiance and good spirit.

Over the years we have held events for theatre, within billiards halls, hosted by restaurants, dance clubs, and even surrounding swimming pools. In the summer,  we also meet more informally at one of the numerous clothing optional beaches in the area including Fire Island (Pines & Cherry Grove) and Sandy Hook.  We also have scheduled hikes and picnics at nearby campgrounds where we can be nude in a supportive group setting.

Our regular weekend parties are open to members and "guests" alike.  The admission fee we charge for each event may vary slightly depending on space rental, food catering and beverages costs, plus supplies. In most cases the event costs for guests is nominally higher to help defray the costs that membership helps to fund.. like deposits on space rental or the costs for catering and transport of party supplies and other favors to the events. Costs are always clearly noted on the official announcement flyers, or within the monthly notes that are part of the electronic and postal mailings.

 

~~ reservations and cancellations ~~

All of our events require reservation and adherence to a cancellation deadline, either by leaving a message on our reservation phone line or by adjusting the emailed evite.

Cancellations are required up to 2 days prior to the event. This allows us the ability to better stock our drinks and get the right amount of food for the buffet at the events.

Deadlines for making and canceling a reservation are included on the flyer for each event. 

Please Note: In most cases MAN events are budgeted to break even. We are not looking to make a profit other than to fund future events and parties. As such, if you do not cancel, the food and drinks will be on order and this would have been covered by the entrance fee. Therefore, guys who have reserved for an event and then do not cancel, are expected to cover the cost of that reservation.

 

~~ a note about our naturist mission ~~

Since the start of our group, social nudism has been the guiding principle for the activities we create and within the spaces we gather.

But we are not blind to the many societal issues that play a role in these activities: by and large, the lack of acceptance of the male form, & the internalized homophobia that can result; the physicality of gay & bisexual male contact, & the desire to encourage affirming & open interactions in this continuing age of AIDS; the sexualization of corporate marketing and the body image constraints that we are then held to unconsciously. For a variety of reasons, responding to or even countering these issues are undercurrents of our daily tasks. We want men to feel good about themselves in a healthy environment.

For many of us, feeling good and being healthy include a sense of being sexually active and vibrant. Our events neither deny this fact nor do they focus on it. We are not organized to facilitate sexual encounters, though many of our members do participate in a wide range of community activities including but not limited to play parties. While restorative and therapeutic touch is supported by our efforts, taking this physical interaction "below the belt" is not what we are about.

That said, all of us, at some time or another, have had an erection during the course of a naturist event. We consider this a perfectly normal, physiological occurrence. We acknowledge that a male body, free from the constraints of clothing, cannot easily hide physical arousal.  All the same, M.A.N. is not an organization for overt sexual play.   Members who participate in overt, sexual activity at an official M.A.N. event may be sanctioned, up to an including removal from the party itself and having the annual membership revoked without refund or further negotiation. *

One other factor\ comes into play making our situation unique among naturist groups. It's all about space: The spaces we find for our locations are almost never suited for sex play. In rural or suburban environments hosting the events at the home of a member is a standard strategy (and in at least one group on the west coast of the US, it is required that members host at least once each year). Our urban setting, where apartments are barely able to host 5-10 guys is just not enough for our usual crowd of at least 60 guys.

Since negotiating spaces is one of the more difficult tasks of the volunteer members of the M.A.N. Steering Committee, they must be able to guarantee that the parties keep their social character. Then there is the fact that this is N.Y.C. ... the opportunities available to guys for play are among the most widely varied and regularly available of any place.

To keep within this constraint, members have, in the past, organized after-parties or coordinated their own gatherings from among their fellow M.A.N. members at their own cost and time.

But if simply "getting off" is what you're after, simply redirect your web search and you'll find a host of options; there is no need to make M.A.N. your play space.

* Sexual activity is understood as any action or behavior done for one's own or the pleasure of another, that would result in an ejaculation if it were continued.  This includes but is not limited to specific kinds of touching, stroking oneself or a buddy, or, plain and simple, screwing around. You'll find on every one of our flyers announcing an event a reminder of our naturist guidelines in accordance with the space we have secured. It usually comes down to this;
